Ramaswami/McDermott Random Legacy Ch. 6: Growing Up Perfect

Liam got his own room in the attic, with an attached bathroom. Finally, some privacy.

When Rukmini becomes a toddler, Maximus and Lakshmi give her the same educational advantages they gave her older brother, educational toys and books and much training and attention from her parents.

These days, Lakshmi does more stylist house calls than she does in the salon. She gets sent to give wardrobe advice to Morgana Wolff, and she's more than impressed by the size of Wolff Manor, and the amazing views of the ocean it affords. Narcissa told Lakshmi that Thornton wanted to work on his marriage, but the relationship didn't seem to change. One day they'd be walking arm in arm at the beach, the next day they'd be having heated arguments at the bistro. There's a sadness in Morgana's eyes that says she might be aware of her husband's straying. Lakshmi wouldn't trade places with her for anything, the fabulous house and incredible wealth would not be worth the pain.

Rukmini's first school friend is Bridgette Wolff, Thornton and Morgana's daughter. Bridgette inherited her father's silver-tipped hair, a distinctive trait of the Wolff family.

Max Vatos, Thornton's son with Narcissa, has also inherited his father's distinctive hair coloring, as well as bearing a strong resemblance to Thornton in all his features. Rukmini and Max quickly become best friends, as their mothers wanted.

When Liam becomes a teen, his parents make him get a job. Well, his mother made him get a job. Unemployed Maximus just didn't feel like arguing with her about the issue, since she felt it was so important for the boy to learn responsibility. So Liam got and after school job at the bookstore.

With school, homework and a part time job, Liam hardly has time for fun or dating, but he manages to start a relationship with Bridgette Wolff once she becomes a teen.

Rukmini becomes a teen not long after her friend Bridgette. Like Liam, she's required to get a part time job. Rukmini chooses to work at the spa, since Bridgette has a job there already.

Max Vatos is next to grow into a teen, and as soon as he does, he and Rukmini begin dating. The older he gets, the more obvious the resemblance he bears to his father. Lakshmi is sure the whole town will know Thornton's secret even though she's never breathed a word, not even to her children, who are both dating his children, legitimate and illegitimate.

(Challenge Notes: Liam and Rukmini have satisfied all the requirements for the Perfect Children rule in generation 1. Rukmini got the family trait, Vegetarian, on her transition to childhood. Lakshmi and Maximus have both become Adults somewhere in there.)

  1. Very cool. I am starting my own Random legacy and saw your post in that thread and came by to see it. I love the dynamic between the Wolff siblings. Its interesting that they are dating your kids. I'm going to read the whole thing, if not today, then over the upcoming week.

  2. Holy crap. This is transfixing. How much of the story are you controlling? Was it just happenstance that Thornton started spreading his seed,or did you have a hand in puppeteering that drama? I'm sure the kids dating his kids had to have been planned though right? This kinda awesome rarely happens randomly. But it's even more dramatic when it does.

  3. I caught Thornton flirting with Narcissa Vatos one time, and I decided to impregnate her with his kid. I always had a thing for Thornton and wanted to make sure his genes made it into a new generation. I think he impregnated his wife on his own, but maybe I did that as well, I don't remember for sure.
Having Rukmini date Max was planned since they were born, but the Liam and Bridgette thing was a last minute decision. Having to do the Perfect Children thing meant Liam had to work everyday after school, and at school he only met other boys, so getting him a girlfriend was a challenge. Since his sister was friends with Bridgette, she was able to invite her over so Liam could get his first kiss, lol.
I like the random dramas when they happen, too. Later, in generation 4, random drama drives a lot of the story. That was my favorite generation in this legacy.
